At our production sites, we create the products that reliably drive our customers forward worldwide: from individual wires to ready-to-install systems. We manufacture cables that transmit power and data; chains that enable motion; and assemblies that bring everything together into a custom-fit solution. Cables & Wires
At our cable plants in Germany alone, we manufacture approximately 621,371 miles (1 million kilometers) of wire annually using the latest production methods. That’s enough to circle the Earth about 25 times. Our more than 300 employees specialize in the production of high-quality standard and custom cables.
By using the latest materials and collaborating with international testing institutes, we are driving innovation in the fields of automation, data technology, building systems, and renewable energy.
Our Production in Numbers
Windsbach
Windsbach is HELU’s main plant and the birthplace of our in-house production: We have been manufacturing cables and wires here since 1988 and have expanded our capacity three times since then. Windsbach is also home to our in-house testing facilities—a clear commitment to Germany as a manufacturing location.
Automation at the Windsbach Plant
Since 2024, a collaborative robot (cobot) has been assisting employees in the winding shop with loading the automatic winding machines. The cobot loads empty spools into the winding machine and removes them again after winding is complete. This allows employees to focus on more challenging tasks.

Meissen
The historic Meissen cable factory has been part of the HELU Group since 2012. Spanning approximately 215,278 ft2 (20,000 m2) across two production halls, the Saxon facility manufactures specialty strands, conductor cables, and insulation and sheathing materials—supported by its own chemical and physical laboratory and a testing center certified to ISO 9001.
Jaworzno
Near Krakow, HELU Eltron manufactures high-quality copper strands and tapes, compensation and thermal cables, as well as high-temperature cables designed for continuous use at temperatures up to 400°C. Manufactured in accordance with international standards and customer-specific requirements, these products are used worldwide in sectors such as automotive manufacturing, the electrical industry, large-scale plant construction, and heavy industry.
Changzhou
In early 2024, the HELU manufacturing plant in Changzhou, China, began operations. With this state-of-the-art production and logistics facility, covering an area of approximately 269,098 ft2 (25,000 m2), we have significantly expanded our capacity in the People’s Republic of China and are now able to offer an even faster and more comprehensive service, particularly to our customers in and around China.
Drag chains
With our Erkrath facility specializing in drag chains, HELU is the only company in the world that manufactures cables, wires, assemblies, and drag chains entirely in-house. In Erkrath, we produce custom drag chains made of plastic, steel, or hybrid materials—from design through to mass production.
When off-the-shelf products reach their limits, we provide customized solutions through machining centers, tool and mold making, and a fully automated plastic injection molding facility—even for small and medium-sized production runs.
Erkrath
As a center of excellence for drag chains, Erkrath combines decades of experience with state-of-the-art manufacturing expertise. Under the name HELU Connectivity Solutions Haan GmbH, the facility develops and manufactures high-quality drag chains for demanding industrial applications. With a high degree of vertical integration, technical expertise, and a clear focus on quality, Erkrath strengthens the HELU Group’s product portfolio and expands its systems expertise.
Ready-to-Install
Assembled cables and wires—that is, cables equipped with properly installed connectors—are an integral part of our product portfolio. HELU manufactures cable assemblies at 10 locations worldwide, including Bielefeld and Bulgaria, which together have approximately 30 years of experience in industrial cable assembly.
Whether it's custom manufacturing or mass production, our manufacturing facilities ensure short delivery times to customers and cost-effective production.
Bielefeld
Since 1996, the team in Bielefeld has been manufacturing industrial-grade cable assemblies and complete system modules—with a particular focus on drive systems for the machine building and plant engineering industries. Since 2022, the facility—formerly Sangel Systemtechnik—has been part of the HELU Group. It brings with it approximately 220 employees and 30 years of experience in cable assembly.
Plovdiv
As a sister site to Bielefeld, our plant in Bulgaria is a key component of HELU’s assembly expertise. The site has been part of the HELU Group since 2022 and now operates under the name HELU Connectivity Solutions Plovdiv. Together with Bielefeld, Plovdiv forms a strong European manufacturing network for high-quality assembies. Thanks to the close collaboration between the two sites, our customers benefit from coordinated processes, a high level of manufacturing expertise, and a reliable supply chain throughout Europe.
