Since 2019, the HELU Group has been assessed by EcoVadis, a globally recognized provider of sustainability ratings. In 2025, we were awarded the Bronze Medal, placing us among the top 35% of all evaluated companies.
The EcoVadis evaluation covers key areas including environmental impact, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Its objective is to enhance transparency across supply chains and enable the comparability of sustainable business practices. With over 125,000 companies assessed across more than 180 countries, EcoVadis represents one of the most established benchmarks in this domain.
Commitment to responsible corporate governance
“As a second-generation family-owned company, we are not focused on short-term results, but on fostering stable, long-term growth – in close collaboration with our customers, partners, and employees.”
Marc Luksch, Managing Director of the HELU Group
Leadership is grounded in responsibility: for the success and satisfaction of our customers and business partners, for the well-being of our more than 2,500 employees across 43 countries, as well as for society and the environment. At HELU, this responsibility is fully integrated into everything we do. We make decisions with care and a long-term perspective, and we continuously scrutinize our processes in detail, always aiming for incremental improvement. Our greatest strength lies in a well-coordinated team built on mutual trust, where everyone can rely on one another at all times.
Sustainability-driven products and solutions
Our products and solutions play a key role in enhancing energy and resource efficiency, while also supporting the protection of people and the environment across a wide range of applications worldwide. In our manufacturing activities, we consistently rely on advanced, energy-efficient facilities and processes, the use of certified materials, and the ongoing monitoring and optimisation of our entire value chain. The quality and long service life of our products are central to our approach, helping to reduce the use of valuable raw materials and minimise waste generation. At the end of their lifecycle, most of the materials employed can be recovered and reintroduced into the production cycle through established recycling concepts.
Product Carbon Footprint: Transparent emissions data
Wherever feasible, we offer a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) assessment for our products. This metric quantifies the greenhouse gas emissions generated across defined stages of a product’s lifecycle – from raw material extraction and manufacturing through to final dispatch from our warehouse. The corresponding documentation is available in our online shop or can be provided upon request.
REACH and RoHS: European standards for chemical safety
Through the REACH and RoHS regulations, the European Union has established harmonised requirements governing the use of chemicals and other potentially hazardous substances. These regulations are also applicable to products manufactured by HELU. The relevant declarations of conformity, confirming our compliance with REACH and RoHS obligations, are available here.

Caring for tomorrow’s world
Environmental protection is an essential component of our responsible corporate conduct. We place strong emphasis on the prudent and efficient use of natural resources and are committed to continuously minimising our impact on the climate and the environment.
A key tool we use to transparently measure company-related emissions and identify areas for improvement is the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF). This indicator reflects the total greenhouse gas emissions generated by a company over a defined period, structured across three categories, known as scopes.
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from company-owned sources (e.g., heating, company vehicles)
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy (e.g., electricity, heat)
- Scope 3: All other indirect emissions (e.g., raw materials, business travel, waste)
HELU determines its Corporate Carbon Footprint in accordance with the internationally recognised Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. Based on these insights, we implement a range of targeted measures designed to conserve resources, lower emissions, and further enhance energy efficiency.
Our environmental initiatives
Building trust through responsible procurement
A responsible supply chain forms a fundamental pillar of our sustainable business operations. As an internationally operating manufacturer of fasteners, we collaborate with a wide network of suppliers and business partners across the globe.
We are committed to upholding human rights, promoting responsible sourcing practices, and minimising environmental risks. Accordingly, we expect our suppliers to comply with all applicable legal requirements, as well as internationally recognised social and environmental standards.
In line with our due diligence responsibilities, we systematically assess potential risks within the supply chain and define appropriate preventive and corrective measures. The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) provides the legal framework for our structured and effective risk management approach. Our policy statement outlines the core principles and processes through which we fulfil these obligations.
Our focus lies on the continuous enhancement of our processes, increasing awareness among our business partners, and progressively improving the quality and completeness of our data. In this way, we establish the foundation for responsible, transparent, and long-term collaboration throughout our supply chain.
Beyond being an employer
“Our employees contribute their best every day to drive HELU’s success. That is why, as a company, we are equally committed to supporting their health, safety, and overall well-being.”
Katja Lägeler, Head of People & Culture
At HELU, our more than 2,500 employees are at the very core of our organisation, as their dedication and expertise are what drive our company’s success. To appropriately recognise this contribution, we are committed to providing the best possible working environment. This ranges from modern workplaces designed to meet the highest standards of ergonomics and safety, to a broad spectrum of initiatives supporting health, fitness, and retirement planning. Equal opportunity and diversity are not merely statements of intent for us – they are actively embedded in our culture and daily practice. In this way, we foster an attractive, close-knit working environment in which every individual is empowered to develop and contribute their unique strengths.
Commitment to fair and respectful collaboration
As a family-owned company with nearly 50 years of tradition, we are dedicated to fostering fair and respectful cooperation across all our locations – from our headquarters in Hemmingen, Baden-Württemberg, to our international subsidiaries. Around the world, we actively support social initiatives and community projects, and we collaborate with schools, universities, educational institutions, and associations. Through these partnerships, we aim to make a meaningful contribution to social cohesion and sustainable development in the regions where we operate.
