Cables & Wires
Manufacturing Plants in Germany, Poland, China, and India
Windsbach Plant
Windsbach is HELU’s original plant and also the birthplace of our in-house production: we have been manufacturing cables and wires here since 1988, and the facility has been expanded three times. The plant also houses our in-house testing facilities—a clear commitment to manufacturing in Germany.
Other plants in Europe were built in Meissen, Germany, and Jaworzno, Poland.
Automation at the Windsbach Plant with Cobots
Since 2024, cobot (a collaborative robot) has been supporting employees in mounting parts onto the specialized, automated machines. The cobot places empty spools into the winder and removes them once winding is complete, freeing up employees to focus on more demanding tasks.
Meissen
Since 2012, the historic Kabelwerk Meissen cable plant has been part of the HELU Group. Across roughly 20,000 square meters in two production halls, the Saxony-based site manufactures special strands, stranded conductors, and insulating and sheathing materials — backed by its own chemical-physical laboratory and a test center, ISO 9001 certified since 2006.
Jaworzno Plant in Poland
Near Kraków, HELU Eltron manufactures high-quality copper strands and braids, compensating and thermocouple cables, as well as high-temperature cables for continuous use up to 400°C. Manufactured to international standards and customer-specific requirements, the products are used worldwide in fields such as automotive manufacturing, the electrical industry, large-scale plant construction, and heavy industry.
Changzhou — Production Plant In China
At the beginning of 2024, the new HELU production facility in Changzhou, China , went into operation. With this ultra-modern production and logistics facility covering an area of around 25,000 square metres, we are significantly expanding our capacities in the People's Republic and will in future be able to offer our customers in and around China an even faster and more comprehensive service.
Manufacturing plant in India
In mid-June 2024, HELU’s manufacturing plant in India officially began operations.
What makes this manufacturing facility unique is that many of the products manufactured by HELU India are produced in accordance with India’s BIS standards. These standards are essential for cables installed in machinery and equipment intended for sale to Indian companies. In the future, the cables produced here will also be manufactured in accordance with Germany’s VDE standards.
Drag chains
With the acquisition of the drag chain specialist in Erkrath, HELU is the only company in the world that manufactures cables, wires, assemblies, and drag chains entirely in-house. In Erkrath, we build custom drag chains in plastic, steel, or hybrid designs — from design through to series production.
Where standard catalog products reach their limits, our machining centers, tool and mold making, and a fully automated plastic injection molding facility enable individual solutions — even for small and medium production volumes.
Erkrath
EKD Gelenkrohr GmbH has been developing and manufacturing drag chains since 1970. Since 2022, it has been part of the HELU Group as HELU Connectivity Solutions Haan GmbH. A new building project is expected to grow headcount from around 70 to 150 by 2030 — a clear signal of the expansion of our drag chain manufacturing capacity.
Cable assembly
Assemblies — cables fitted with the matching connectors — are a fixed part of the HELU portfolio. We manufacture assemblies at ten locations worldwide, including Bielefeld and Bulgaria, with a combined 30 years of experience in industrial cable assembly.
Whether single-unit orders or large series, our assembly sites ensure both proximity to customers and cost-efficient production.
Bielefeld
Since 1996, the team in Bielefeld has been manufacturing industrial-grade cable assemblies and complete system modules — with a particular focus on drive systems for machinery and plant engineering. Since 2022, the site, formerly Sangel Systemtechnik, has been part of the HELU Group. It brings around 220 employees and 30 years of assembly experience to the group.
Bulgaria
As a sister site to Bielefeld, our plant in Bulgaria is also part of HELU's cable assembly expertise. The site has been part of the HELU Group since 2022 and now operates as HELU Connectivity Solutions Plovdiv. Together with Bielefeld, it forms an important pillar of our European cable assembly manufacturing.
